How Apply Business intelligence to your operation in a Big Data era.
31/05/2013 22:53Everyday more and more companies join the big data technology, and keep their customers, suppliers and competitors on their radar, tracking constantly changes of the market.
Personally, I like to think on a market department as an artillery troop. It accuracy and power shall define the market share battle. Napoleon said that God always fight for the side with the best artillery. A good artillery has to know the exactly spot that it should hit, how it gets the best results with less collateral effects and efforts possible. I posted a better text so you can check my opinion about marketing dept.
Focusing on BI, it is incredible and sad to know that there are many companies that do not have a wide vision of their own market, it changes, innovations, some of them have no idea of what’s their best and worst product, and what is their best and worst offers.
If you get in a Brazilian FF and ask what his best product is, many of them will answer you shortly that they have a great volume with China. If you ask the worst, they’ll probably not know and answer you quickly that they always fight for the best prices and they get the competitiveness as the demand comes.
That’s nothing but lack of focus. Business intelligence isn’t about when you win a competition but how much and why you lose those. Knowing how much you’re loosing is as important as know how much you can win. It’ll define when and where your artillery has to shoot to get the best return of it.
Being more practical about that:
Keep in mind that you can earn experience from your losses so try to get the best you can from the customers you lost for your competitors (next time you’ll get them back.)
Create a ranking for your products and try to make it look as much as you can to the values your customer have for the kind of product that you’re offering to them.
Keep your contacts on your radar and make every contact, every call counts.
Big data is to take all information you can and rank it to get the best information and decision, so every contact counts, every word of your customer should be ranked into your database.
Integrate customer relationship management parameters and experience a better follow up with your customers.
